What does the department expect?
The researcher winner of the evaluation procedure will be included in the research projects of Computational Statistics and Data Science of the Department. He will contribute with his research to the DataScienceLab and will also participate in the teaching of the new Master in Data Science for Economics, Business and Finance and the future Master’s Degree in Data Science and Economics.

Who are we looking for?
The best candidates, with a solid methodological basis but who know how to move in Data Science and that can increase the Department’s research in this field.

ABOUT THIS MEETING

The purpose of this scientific event is to take advantage of the presence in Milan of the international community of statisticians attending CLADAG 2017 Conference and to stimulate cross- discussion between the various researchers at the University of Milan who work on diversified topics related to Big Data & Complex Systems.

The Flash Talk, although academically sound, are meant for a wider audience including the Press and colleagues from other disciplines.

Problems, solutions and challenges for Big Data & Complex Systems vary upon the scientific field of study. This event is an attempt to put statisticians in connection with scientists of the many different disciplines present at the University of Milan.

A Wrap Up session will be devoted to further feedback and questions by the Press and/or colleagues.

Data science is a concept to unify statistics, data analysis, mathematics, computational method, information and computer science in order to understand and analyze complex phenomenal.

The Data Science Lab is the center of the University of Milan that integrate the mathematical, statistical and computer science knowledge of its researchers in order to develop new data analysis techniques for studying complex phenomena.

Data Science Lab extracts information from data from complex systems such as those generated in financial markets by high-frequency transactions, texts generated by social network systems, biomedical and genetic data, “open data” available from public administrations and economic institutions, in general Big Data
